ABOUT

I was only a child when my Mum and Dad decided to migrate to Australia from the UK.

We lived in Balcatta when we first arrived and I was enrolled at Osborne Park Primary School. Later I attended Montrose Primary School after my family moved to Girrawheen, where my two brothers were born. The family eventually grew to seven – two adults and five children – so we moved to a bigger home in Koondoola.

Now I have my own family – my wife, Shelly and our young son, Jacob; my daughter, Anna, I have two Grandchildren Mark and Ruby.

I count the rebuilding of the Wanneroo clubrooms and the provision of zoning certainty in East Wanneroo amongst my strongest achievements for the people of Wanneroo, as well as the upgrading of facilities in some of our older local schools, and the addition of two Primary schools and one Secondary Collage to the Electorate of Wanneroo.

As Chairman of the Northern Suburbs Transport Planning Study, I'm heavily involved in the community consultation process for the next stage of the Mitchell Freeway from Burns Beach Road to Hester Avenue which, when completed, will help alleviate the majority of traffic issues on major roads in and around Wanneroo. I am also involved in the planning process to extend the Mitchell Freeway north of Hester Avenue.

Some of the other projects that I have been working on include, The duplication of Wanneroo Rd (from Joondalup Dr to Hester Ave), the realignment and extension of Flynn Dr so it connects to the Freeway (giving residents a third access point), and the current major works occurring at the intersection of Joondalup Dr and Wanneroo Rd, traffic throughout the area will greatly be reduced.

Following all of the above works my next priority is to then realign Neaves Rd to Flynn Dr, which would give residents yet another alternative access point to the Freeway and would result in even more traffic being taken off of Joondalup Dr.

In 2016 I became the Minister for Local Government; Community Services; Seniors and Volunteering; Youth. I also believe that now I have a position in cabinet this will only add to my arsenal when ensuring that the residents of Wanneroo, and the Northern Suburbs in general, get the best possible outcomes on issues that affect them.
